Styles and Independence for the Developing Drummer
                                         by Alex McKechnie

The purpose of this book is to help the intermediate drum set student develop independence and drum set technique within a range of musical styles. It contains a great deal of information presented in a logical and progressive format.

Many of the exercises are based on previously well known books like New Breed, by Gary Chester or Conversations in Clave, by Horacio Hernandez. However, the information in Styles and Independence for the Developing Drummer is presented in a condensed format and while usually these types of books centre upon one style like Latin or jazz, Alex's book covers a wide range of styles including rock/funk, jazz, Afro-Cuban and Brazilian.

This book is targeted towards students who have been playing for a couple of years and have reached an intermediate level of musicianship.
